Reps Committee Yet to Submit Report on $25m NFF Grants Probe

More than two months after the House of Representatives mandated its Committee on Sports to investigate the use of football development grants received by the Nigerian Football Federation, no report has been submitted.

The probe followed concerns over more than $25 million reportedly disbursed to the NFF by FIFA and CAF between 2015 and 2025. Lawmakers raised questions over whether the funds translated into meaningful development, citing Nigeria’s recent struggles on the international stage.

One of the motion’s sponsors, Adedayo Adesola, has expressed frustration over the silence, stressing that Nigerians deserve clarity on how the funds were spent, especially after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the upcoming World Cup.

The issue has reignited debate over football administration in the country and is expected to resurface when the National Assembly resumes later in January 2026.
