Rabiu Upholds $500,000 Pledge Despite Super Eagles’ AFCON Exit

BUA Group chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu has reaffirmed his commitment to reward the Super Eagles with $500,000 despite Nigeria’s penalty shootout defeat to Morocco at the semi-final stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria bowed out of the tournament on Wednesday night after losing 4–2 on penalties following a goalless draw with the host nation in Rabat. The pledged sum was initially tied to a victory over Morocco, along with other performance-based incentives.

In a message shared on social media, Rabiu praised the national team for its fighting spirit, resilience, and unity throughout the competition, noting that effort and pride mattered beyond the final result.

The Super Eagles will now shift attention to the third-place playoff against Egypt as they look to end the tournament on a positive note.
