Pro-Biafra Agitator Simon Ekpa Arrested in Finland Over Terrorism Charges
Controversial pro-Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, has been arrested by Finnish authorities on charges related to terrorism and promoting violence. Ekpa, the leader of the Autopilot faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was detained by the Finnish Central Criminal Police alongside four others on Thursday.
According to the Finnish police, Ekpa is suspected of having contributed to violence and criminal activities targeting civilians in South-eastern Nigeria. The authorities allege that Ekpa has used social media platforms to incite and promote actions that have led to violence against both civilians and government authorities in the region.
Crime Commissioner Otto Hiltunen, head of the investigation, stated, “The police suspect that the man (Ekpa) has promoted his efforts from Finland with means that have led to violence against civilians and authorities, as well as other crimes in the South-eastern Nigerian region.”
The matter will be discussed today in the Päijät-Häme district court, where a possible imprisonment hearing for Ekpa will take place, Hiltunen added.
