President Tinubu to Address Nation at 7AM on Democracy Day

President Bola Tinubu will deliver a national broadcast at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, as part of activities lined up to commemorate the 2025 Democracy Day celebration.

This was disclosed in a statement released today by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Democracy Day, which outlined key events scheduled for the annual observance.

Following the broadcast, President Tinubu is expected to attend a joint session of the National Assembly at the Assembly complex in Abuja later in the afternoon. The session is part of the formal engagements recognizing Nigeria’s return to democratic governance in 1999.

While the celebration will include a public lecture at 4:00 p.m. at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, the committee confirmed that there will be no Democracy Day parade this year.

Democracy Day, marked every June 12, honors the legacy of the 1993 presidential election widely considered one of the freest in Nigeria’s history, and serves as a reminder of the nation’s democratic journey.
