Presidency Says Report of Tinubu’s Planned US Visit Is False
The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, has debunked claims that the President is scheduled to travel to the United States on Tuesday for a meeting with US Vice President J.D. Vance. The clarification came on Monday following reports circulating online about an alleged diplomatic trip.
Ajayi, posting on his official X handle, said the report was false and had triggered needless speculation and what he called “uninformed commentaries.” He stressed that the claim originated from a Sahara Reporters publication that misled the public on the President’s itinerary.
He stated that if President Tinubu were to visit the White House at any time, the engagement would be with President Donald Trump, not the Vice President. According to him, such a visit would follow established diplomatic protocol.
The clarification emerged amid wider reports suggesting Tinubu was preparing for “top-level diplomatic engagements” in Washington, linked to recent comments by President Trump about religious tension in Nigeria.
