Police Raid Kidnappers’ Den, Arrest Fleeing Leader in Delta State
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have dismantled a kidnappers’ hideout and apprehended the gang’s fleeing leader. The operation, which took place on February 2nd, 2025, in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area, also yielded a cache of weapons and military uniforms.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, on Friday, the operation was the result of an intelligence-led investigation following the arrest of several suspected kidnappers on January 30th. These individuals had been terrorizing communities in the Abraka, Obiaruku, and Umutu areas.
Acting on this information, the CP Special Assignment team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, raided a house in Evwokenren layout off Ughelli Road, Agbarho, at approximately 4:35 PM. The target was the residence of the gang leader, identified only as Emeka, whose surname remains unknown. He had fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police.

Despite Emeka’s escape, the raid proved fruitful. Officers recovered a fabricated semi-automatic Beretta pistol with four rounds of live ammunition, four locally made cut-to-size guns, thirteen rounds of live cartridges, and a pair of military uniforms concealed in a black polythene bag.
Mr. Edafe confirmed that the recovered items are being processed as evidence and that the suspect, Emeka, is currently in police custody. He emphasised that a manhunt is underway to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
