PDP Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket to the South
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced that its presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections will go to the southern part of the country.
The decision was confirmed on Monday during the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja. The party also agreed that the position of national chairman would remain in the north.
In a statement following the meeting, party spokesperson Debo Ologunagba said the resolutions were based on the report of a zoning committee led by Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri. The NEC also confirmed Umar Damagum as the substantive national chairman until a party convention scheduled for November in Ibadan.
The NEC also condemned incidents of violence and intimidation during recent by-elections in Kaduna, Taraba, and Zamfara states. The party said it remains committed to democratic principles and plans to strengthen its electoral position ahead of 2027.
