Oromoni Takes Action Against Cholera Outbreak in Delta Community

The Chairman of Warri South West Local Government Council,Sylvester Oromoni, has launched an urgent response to a suspected cholera outbreak in the Escravos area, following reports of ten suspected cases and two deaths in Egbekuta Community.

In light of these developments, Oromoni has instructed Vice Chairman, Christy Omamofe and the local health team to assess the situation on the ground. The team, which includes Dr. Emiko Efuyaekpone, Head of Public Health, and Mrs. Elohor Igbunuoghene from the World Health Organization, engaged with local residents to promote cholera prevention measures and delivered essential medical supplies to Ogidigben General Hospital.

Oromoni supplied over 2,000 packs of clean drinking water and additional medical resources to the affected communities. Local leaders have called for the establishment of a standard primary health centre, solar-powered boreholes, and the deployment of doctors to the government hospital.

Oromoni reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing healthcare, education, and security in the region, stating: “only a healthy, educated, and secure people can build a wealthy society.”

Community leaders from Ogidigben and Egbekuta Ward 1 and 2 have praised Oromoni’s swift action, describing it as an exemplary model of responsive governance.

Health authorities have advised residents to adhere to health guidelines and take necessary precautions. They also highlighted that treatment for children under five and pregnant women is free at all government hospitals and health centers.
