Dangote Refinery Denies Receiving Payments From IPMAN For Petrol Products
Dangote Refinery has stated that it has not received any payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for refined petroleum products.
Anthony Chiejina, the company’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, made this statement on Thursday while responding to claims by IPMAN that its members had been unable to load petrol from the refinery for several days.
IPMAN President, Abubakar Garima stated in a TV interview on Wednesday that its members were unable to load petrol despite having paid N40 billion to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd).
In its statement, Dangote Refinery clarified that it is misleading to imply that IPMAN members are facing difficulties loading products from the refinery, noting that it has no direct business dealings with them. Chiejina said that payments have been made through NNPC Ltd, which has not authorized the release of petrol to IPMAN.
“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery wishes to clarify that it has not received any payments from the IPMAN to purchase refined petroleum products. Although discussions are ongoing with IPMAN, it is misleading to suggest that they (IPMAN Members) are experiencing difficulties loading refined products from our Petroleum Refinery, as we currently have no direct business dealings with them, Mr Chiejina stated.
