One Dead, Others Injured as Jeep Rams into Tricycles in Anambra

Tragedy struck on Saturday morning at the People’s Club/Limca Road, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, when a Lexus Jeep rammed into two tricycles, killing one person and leaving several others injured.

Eyewitnesses said the occupants of the vehicle, suspected to be security operatives, fled the scene with their rifles after realizing the severity of the accident. The abandoned vehicle was later recovered by police operatives who also evacuated the victims to hospital.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident but dismissed claims that the vehicle belonged to a security agency. He said preliminary findings showed it was a private vehicle.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a full investigation and appealed to residents to remain calm while the circumstances surrounding the crash are unraveled.
