Olu of Warri Launches ₦750 Million Iwere Trust Fund to Drive Development

The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, has announced the launch of a ₦750 million Iwere Trust Fund (ITF) as part of efforts to accelerate development within the kingdom. The monarch made the declaration on Thursday during events marking his 4th coronation anniversary in Warri, Delta State.

The Olu revealed that he had personally seeded the fund with ₦750 million of his own resources, underscoring his commitment to rebuilding the Itsekiri nation and laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth. “I am leading by example,” he said. “This trust is for the development of our people and our home. It is a vehicle to inspire progress and cultivate seeds of development for Iwere land.”

Calling on Itsekiri sons and daughters, as well as friends and partners of the kingdom, to contribute to the initiative, the Olu emphasized that collective responsibility and unity were crucial for the people’s transformation. “If we keep perpetuating the notion that we cannot trust ourselves, then we only delay the breakthrough we so desperately desire,” he said.

In his message, Ogiame Atuwatse III noted the challenges faced in the past year but assured that the throne remained resolute in steering the kingdom toward peace, restoration, and prosperity. He urged the people to embrace trust, love, and mutual support, stressing that the palace must remain the rallying point for order in Iwere land.

The coronation anniversary, which drew dignitaries from across the country, including representatives of the Delta State Government, federal agencies, and security chiefs, was described by the Olu as a celebration of God’s kindness and blessings upon the Itsekiri nation.
