Olu of Warri Extends Deadline for 1,000-Student Bursary Scheme
The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has extended the deadline for his Itsekiri Students Bursary Scheme, aimed at supporting 1,000 undergraduates from Itsekiri communities across Delta and Edo States. The initiative covers Warri Federal Constituency, Delta Central Senatorial District, and recognised Itsekiri settlements in Edo.
Sole Representative of the Olu to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Prince Collins Edema, announced the extension over the weekend in Warri, urging communities to make use of the new August 31 deadline. So far, 746 eligible students have been shortlisted, leaving 254 slots still open.
Under the scheme, each eligible community is required to nominate three students who are indigenes, currently in 200 level or above, and can provide admission letters, transcripts, and other supporting academic documents. Communities have also been advised to verify the published shortlist to avoid submitting duplicate names, which will not be considered.
Students from Warri South, Warri North, Warri South West, Okpe, Sapele, Ethiope East, Uvwie, and Ethiope West Local Government Areas, as well as Edo State, are expected to benefit from the scheme. The bursary, Edema said, is a demonstration of the Olu’s commitment to advancing education and empowering Itsekiri youths.
