Oborevwori Signs Delta’s N1.7 trillion budget into law.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori signed into law Delta State’s 2026 Appropriation Bill on Tuesday, approving a budget of N1.729 trillion titled “Budget of Accelerating the MORE Agenda.” The signing also included three other important bills passed by the State House of Assembly.

The new budget aims to boost development, improve security, and strengthen social welfare across Delta State. It marks a 70% increase over the 2025 budget, with 70% of funds allocated to capital projects and 30% to recurrent expenses, reflecting a focus on infrastructure and sustainable growth.

Alongside the budget, Oborevwori signed the Delta State Social Investment Programme Law, the Delta State Colleges of Education Law (2025), and the Delta State Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Cultism (Amendment) Law (2025). These laws aim to enhance social welfare, standardize teacher education, and tighten security measures in the state.

The Governor commended the Delta State House of Assembly for its swift and thorough passage of the bills, emphasizing the strong cooperation between the legislature and executive. He thanked all stakeholders for their support and wished citizens a prosperous new year.
