Oborevwori Secures APC Governorship Ticket With 345,375 Votes in Delta Primary

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election after polling 345,375 affirmation votes in the party’s direct primary held across the state.

Despite being the sole aspirant, Governor Oborevwori joined other party members at Ward 3 in Okpe Local Government Area on Thursday to personally participate in the exercise, where he reportedly secured more than 4,000 votes in his ward alone.

The primary witnessed a massive turnout of registered APC members across the state, with party faithful turning out in large numbers to affirm the governor’s candidacy.

Oborevwori was accompanied during the exercise by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, Executive Director of the Nigeria Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Stella Oketete, and other party leaders and stakeholders.

The result of the statewide exercise was announced at the APC secretariat in Asaba by the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Engr. Victor Abba.

According to him, Oborevwori satisfied all constitutional requirements of the party and secured the highest number of valid votes cast, thereby emerging as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Delta State.

“I, Engineer Sir Victor Abba, Chairman of the Delta Governorship Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer for the Delta State Governorship Primary Election held on May 21, 2026, hereby certify that the aspirant, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, scored 345,375 votes,” Abba declared.

He commended party members for maintaining peace and order throughout the exercise, describing the conduct of the primary as a reflection of unity and internal democracy within the APC in Delta State.

Speaking after casting his vote in Oha, Okpe Local Government Area, Governor Oborevwori praised the leadership of the party for organizing what he described as a transparent and peaceful process across the state’s 270 wards.

He noted that the turnout demonstrated growing confidence in the APC and strong grassroots support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor also remarked that the peaceful nature of the exercise marked a significant improvement in the political atmosphere of the state.

The declaration of results was witnessed by several top APC leaders, including Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, former Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and other party stakeholders.

Reacting to the outcome, Okowa described the turnout as a clear show of support for Oborevwori’s administration, while Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the governor’s emergence reflected the confidence party members have in his leadership.

Other APC leaders present, including Dr. Hilary Ibegbulem, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, Hon. Francis Waive, and Chief Solomon Areyenka, also expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
