Chinda Emerges APC Governorship Candidate in Rivers as Fubara, Cole, Others Step Down
Hon. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.
Chinda clinched the party’s ticket after emerging as the sole aspirant following the withdrawal of three other contenders ahead of the primary election.
The aspirants who stepped down from the race on Wednesday night include the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Tonye Cole, and Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly.
Announcing the outcome of the exercise, Chairman of the State Governorship Primary Committee, Kwamoti Bitrus, disclosed that Chinda secured a total of 268,497 votes as the lone candidate of the party.
Bitrus commended members of the APC for their massive participation in the primary election and praised party agents for their dedication throughout the process.
He also appreciated the state chairman of the party for providing a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for the exercise.
