Oborevwori Rewards Debate Champions with N20m

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has awarded N20 million each to the five students who won the 2025 World Basic Schools Debate Championship in Doha, Qatar. The same reward was extended to the team’s handlers in recognition of their role in securing the victory.

At a reception in Government House, Asaba, the governor described the students’ achievement as a proud moment for the state and a testament to his administration’s commitment to educational excellence. He decorated the champions with their medals, received the championship trophy, and praised their courage, hard work, and discipline.

Oborevwori urged other students to emulate the champions, noting that focus and diligence could help reduce crime in society. He also commended parents, coaches, and handlers for their support, describing education as the most valuable legacy parents can give their children.
