Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has committed to completing the 20.95km Trans Warri/Ode-Itsekiri Road and Access Bridges project within two years, Warri Sentinel has learnt.

At the project site in Warri on Tuesday, the South-South regional manager of Setraco Nig. Ltd, Mr. JayJay assured of the project’s completion within 18 months.

In his remark, Governor Oborevwori warned that there would be legal consequences for engineers who do shoddy jobs. He assured that funding will be continuous, guaranteeing that the project remains on schedule.

It would be recalled that the Trans-Warri Road and Access Bridges project, initially awarded in 2006 during Chief James Ibori’s administration’s dragged for 17 years. However, 19 Bridges have been completed through Ifiekporo community to Ugbodede, Usele, Inorin, Ajigba and Ode-Itsekiri communities.

Oborevwori promised that the project would be inaugurated during the Olu of Warri’s 5th coronation anniversary.

“Any one who compromises will face the full wrath of the law. There are procedures for certifying jobs and any site engineer who compromises will be disciplined. We have assured Deltans that we will not accept substandard jobs and we will make sure that jobs are properly done” he stated.

Oborevwori further expressed his reason for the supervision, “I like visiting projects to see what has been done and what is left; we have come and we have seen the project which has been crawling for the last 17 years.”

Commissioner for Works, Comrade Reuben Izeze, presented a brief on the project’s history and progress, while Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri praised the ongoing efforts and the Governor’s commitment.

Governor Oborevwori also visited and inspected the Technical College at Omadino and met with contractors to ensure its speedy completion.
