Oborevwori Commences Electrification of Ode-Itsekiri And 5 Other Warri South Communities

The Sheriff Oborevwori led Delta State Government has commenced a major rural electrification project across six riverine communities -Ode-Itsekiri, Orugbo, Ajigba, Inorin, Usele, and Ugbodede -all in Warri South Local Government Area, as part of his M.O.R.E Agenda.

The project, being executed by Colby Nigeria Limited, was unveiled through a public notice and field activity featuring workers installing and cleaning around official project signboards at designated sites. The visible signage, which identifies the Delta State Ministry of Energy, Asaba as the client, outlines the project scope and contractor details—underscoring the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and public awareness in project execution.

This latest intervention forms a critical part of the state’s broader energy expansion efforts following the August 2025 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Delta State Government and Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The $158 million partnership seeks to boost renewable energy infrastructure and expand electricity access to an estimated 386,000 residents across the state, particularly in underserved and off-grid communities.

With Nigeria’s national electricity deficit estimated at over 4,000 megawatts, the state’s proactive approach positions Delta as a model in subnational energy reforms.

The electrification of these Warri South communities marks another step toward bridging the rural-urban development gap, advancing Oborevwori’s vision of a brighter, more connected Delta where every community benefits from modern public utilities and sustainable progress.
