NSC Honours Young Athletes in Asaba, Continues Nationwide Appreciation Tour

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has recognised several promising young athletes in Asaba, Delta State, as part of its ongoing Youth Appreciation Tour aimed at promoting sports development at the grassroots.

Officials of the Commission visited the state to celebrate young talents who have distinguished themselves in youth sporting competitions. The delegation was led by the Director of Grassroots Development, Amaka Ashiofu, alongside the Director of FEADS, Mbora Ikana.

During the visit, two athletes — Udoh David and Gowon Oghenerunor — were specially recognised for their achievements and dedication to sports at the youth level.

The initiative forms part of the Commission’s effort to encourage young athletes and support their growth while building a strong foundation for Nigeria’s sports sector. According to officials, identifying and rewarding talent early will help prepare the next generation of athletes capable of representing the country in national and international competitions.

The Youth Appreciation Tour will continue on Thursday in Uyo, where more emerging athletes are expected to be celebrated as the Commission pushes forward with its plan to strengthen grassroots sports development across Nigeria.
