NDDC Partners with Chevron on Omadino-Escravos Road
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has entered into a strategic partnership with Chevron Nigeria Limited to build the 70.75km Omadino-Okerenkoko-Escravos Road, which will include several vital bridges in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State.
This initiative is expected to significantly enhance connectivity to Escravos, a key center for the oil and gas industry in the region.
The announcement was made by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of NDDC, during a high-level meeting with Chevron’s leadership, including Dr. Segun Kuteyi, Director of the NNPCL/Chevron Joint Venture, at Chevron’s Lagos headquarters.
Dr. Ogbuku emphasized that the road project is not just an infrastructural development but a vital economic stimulus for the entire Niger Delta.
Dr. Ogbuku also stated that the NDDC is committed to turning Escravos into an economic powerhouse by improving its infrastructure. He pointed out that the Omadino-Escravos road is a priority for the Commission, especially considering the broader economic importance of the area. He reiterated the NDDC’s commitment to involving all stakeholders, including private sector players, to accelerate the project’s completion.
The NDDC Managing Director further explained that the Commission’s approach to partnerships follows the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which stresses the importance of stakeholder collaboration. Ogbuku noted that the NDDC has adopted the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model as a key strategy to fund and complete critical infrastructure projects in the region.
By partnering with corporations like Chevron, NDDC aims to complete ongoing projects and launch new ones that will drive the economic revitalization of the Niger Delta.
