Navy Dismantles Illegal Refining Site in Ogbe-Ijoh Delta State

The Nigerian Navy Ship DELTA has deactivated an illegal refinery site in Ogbe-Ijoh Creek, Delta State. The operation, carried out under the Navy’s ongoing Operation DELTA SANITY, took place on Friday, August 29, 2025, at a site located at Latitude 5.66044055°N and Longitude 5.56370713°E.

The site, which contained a locally constructed oven believed to be undergoing reactivation for illegal refining, was swiftly dismantled. The Navy’s action is part of the government’s broader efforts to combat the environmental damage and loss of revenue caused by illegal oil refining in the Niger Delta. Despite the challenges posed by these illicit operations, the Navy say it remains committed to cracking down on the illegal activities that undermine the country’s oil industry.
