Man Macheted, Building Raised as Tension Mounts in Delta Community
Tensions continue to rise in Odion community of Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State following an attack on an indigene of the community on Sunday, April 6 and subsequent arson same evening where a building belonging to some residents accused of trying to rename section of the community was touched.
In an exclusive interview with Warri Sentinel on Monday, April 7 at an undisclosed clinic in Warri, Eyube recounted the events leading to his attack.
He explained that the unrest began on Saturday, April 5, when youths from Okumagba community arrived in Odion and erected a banner bearing the image of their traditional ruler.

In response, the youths from Odion community removed the banner, prompting a confrontation. Upon hearing about the incident, Peter Eyube went to the scene where the banner was taken down.
Early on Sunday, April 6, Eyube was attacked by machete-wielding youths from Okumagba. In trying to escape the mob who was trying to reach for his head, according to Eyube, he blocked the strikes with his arm.
Upon investigation, Warri Sentinel can confirm that the Local Government Chairman, Oritseweyinmi Agbateyiniro and the Nigerian Police, A’ Division have waded into the issue to forestall a total breakdown of law and order.
