The Nucleus Center for Early Childhood Development in conjunction with the Allison and Oluremi Ayida (AOA) Foundation have commissioned a new Play Learn Lab at Ejoki Primary School in Ifiekporo Community in Warri South LGA of Delta State, introducing a new model for early childhood education.

The Centre’s Executive Director, Olatundun Osanyin, said the centre aimed “to lead a movement that redefines early childhood, rooted in nature, guided by science, and shaped by culture,” adding that its goal is to ensure children across Nigeria access environments that “spark curiosity, build confidence, and support holistic development.”

The Play Learn Lab, the first created through the centre’s partnership with the AOA Foundation, is designed to transform early learning through hands-on, play-based activities that build “critical thinking, creativity, communication skills, and confidence.”

Working together, we saw a powerful opportunity to create a child centered learning space in Ifiekporo community, Warri, one that reflects both our mission and the Foundation’s commitment to meaningful community impact. This shared vision is what motivated us to bring the Play Learn Lab to life here in Warri.” -Mrs Alero Ayida-Otobo, AOA Foundation

Officials of the Local Government Education Authority, including Director of Administration Roy Ajuyah, and Head of Sports, attended the commissioning.

According to the centre, the Lab will serve as a hub for programmes for children from birth to age eight.

“In the long term, our goal is for the Play Learn Lab to become a model that can be replicated in other schools across Warri, Delta State, and beyond, ensuring that every Nigerian child has an unencumbered and joyful childhood.”
