Labour Party Gives Peter Obi 48-Hour to Resign Over Coalition Ties
The Julius Abure-led faction of the Labour Party has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Peter Obi, urging him to resign from the party following his involvement in a newly formed political coalition.
In a statement released Thursday by the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, the group distanced itself from the coalition, calling its members “power mongers” and “recycled politicians” with no genuine interest in national transformation.
Ifoh accused Obi of holding secret meetings to persuade party members to join him, while noting that many have declined to defect. He warned that Labour Party would not tolerate dual loyalty and reaffirmed the faction’s position against the coalition, calling it a threat to the vision of a “New Nigeria.”
Ifoh said the coalition does not reflect the vision of the New Nigeria that many young people aspire to, urging party members to remain committed ahead of future elections.
