Labour Meets Federal Government Amid Fuel Price Hikes
Leaders from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) held a crucial meeting with representatives of the Federal Government on Wednesday, October 16 to discuss the recent increase in fuel prices. The meeting took place at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and was led by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
The Organised Labour team was represented by NLC President Joe Ajaero and TUC Secretary-General Nuhu Toro. Other government attendees included Minister of State for Labour Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, and Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu.
Labour unions had expressed their discontent over the hike in petrol pump prices, electricity tariffs, and overall inflation, all of which have contributed to the escalating cost of living in Nigeria.
