Ken Pela Dumps Labour Party, Joins ADC
Deacon Kennedy Kawarhiebie Pela, popularly known as Ken Pela, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The development was confirmed at a political gathering in Asaba on January 7, where members of the Obidient movement and several former Labour Party stakeholders also declared their allegiance to the ADC. The event attracted party leaders from the national, zonal and state levels, alongside supporters from across the state.
ADC officials said the entry of Pela and his supporters strengthens the party’s structure and broadens its reform-focused coalition in the South-South. Party leaders at the event said the move reflects growing acceptance of the ADC as a platform for inclusive governance, youth participation and accountability.
Speaking after his formal admission, Pela said his decision was guided by shared values and commitment to people-centred leadership. He thanked the party leadership for the reception, as dignitaries, including former presidential aide Mrs Lauretta Onochie, witnessed the occasion.
