Keke Napep Restricted In Uvwie Amid Security Concerns
The Uvwie Local Government Council in Delta State has announced new restrictions on tricycle (keke) operators in response to growing public concerns about crime, Warri Sentinel has gathered.
In a press statement, the council Chairman, Hon. Anthony Onoriode-Ofoni, announced that tricycle operators are now restricted to operating between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily with effect from Monday, 16th September, 2024.
Hon. Ofoni urged all residents and tricycle operators to comply with the new operating hours.
This decision comes after series of complaints about robberies, gang rapes, and other criminal activities allegedly involving tricycle operators in Effurun and surrounding communities.
He warned that any keke operator caught working outside the free operating hours of 5.00a.m. to 10.00p.m. will be impounded and the operator arrested.
The Uwvie council boss noted that these measures are intended to protect residents and ensure a safer community. He urged all residents to work together to create a peaceful and crime-free Uvwie.
