“If the President fails, I will fail” Oborevwori Backs Tinubu Amid Backlash
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called on Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the success of the President is crucial to his own success as governor. This follows a recent article by his executive assistant, Felix Ofou, which the governor insists was misinterpreted by the media.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the state government clarified that Governor Oborevwori has always maintained a harmonious relationship with President Tinubu, despite reports suggesting otherwise. Ahon urged the public to disregard what he described as misleading reports and emphasized that the Governor’s stance remains one of unwavering support for the President.
“The Governor has consistently urged Deltans and all Nigerians to support President Tinubu,” Ahon said. “If the President fails, I will fail. Our success is intertwined. By God’s grace, neither the President nor I will fail.”
Ahon also stated that President Tinubu had appointed several sons and daughters of Delta State to key positions, underlining the President’s commitment to the state’s development.
“God has made President Tinubu the President, just as He has made me the Governor,” he added. “We must support each other for the success of this administration.”
The clarification follows comments made by former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, at an APC event in Oghara, where he criticized Oborevwori’s leadership. In response, Ahon dismissed any claims that the Governor had expressed opposition to President Tinubu’s economic policies, reiterating that Oborevwori’s focus is on providing good governance in Delta State despite the current economic challenges facing the country.
“Governor Oborevwori has never expressed any disagreement with the President’s policies, He is working hard to ensure the welfare of Deltans and all residents of the state.” Ahon said.
