Ibom Air Resumes Night Flights, After Government Deadline

Night flights have resumed at Victor Attah International Airport following a successful upgrade of airfield lighting and navigation systems. The reopening was announced shortly after the September 30 deadline set by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, for full restoration of critical airport infrastructure.

Governor Eno expressed satisfaction with the airport management and Nigerian Airspace Management Agency for delivering the upgrade on schedule. His office noted that night operations had become essential as the state moves to position itself as a major tourism and investment destination.

The restoration lifts earlier operational limits, allowing flights beyond daylight hours,  a major boost for Ibom Air and other carriers during the upcoming holiday season. The governor also reaffirmed the state’s plans to invest further in aviation infrastructure, including the MRO and terminal facilities.
