“I Am Not A Coward”- Diden Dismisses Claims of Defection
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Chairman of Warri North Local Government Area, Michael Diden, has denied rumours suggesting he has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Sunday, April 13, by the National Secretary of the Delta Political Vanguard, Ese Sanco, Diden addressed speculation surrounding his political committment, insisting he remains committed to the PDP.

“There are rumours circulating that I have defected to the APC. I want everyone to hear it directly from me — I have not left PDP,” Diden said. “If I ever decide to join another party, I will do so openly and without fear. I am not a coward.”
However, Diden voiced his support for President Bola Tinubu, stating that backing the current administration aligns with the direction of local political leadership. He referenced the guidance of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, urging supporters to rally behind the President.
“Our leader, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has made it clear that anyone who supports him should also support President Tinubu,” Diden explained. “We must not repeat the mistakes of the past, We should not make the mistake of the past, where we supported somebody against Jonathan Goodluck, and we lost our chances.
Diden also announced the formation of a new political support movement, Gate to Gate for Tinubu, aimed at mobilising grassroots backing for the President ahead of the 2027 general election.
The initiative, he said, would take campaign efforts “from gate to door, and from door to bedroom.”
The statement concluded by calling on PDP members and Delta State residents to support both Governor Oborevwori and President Tinubu.
