House of Reps Extend 2024 Budget Capital Spending to Dec 2025
House of Representatives has approved a bill to extend the implementation period for the capital component of the 2024 budget from June 30 to December 31, 2025. The bill, presented by Deputy Majority Leader Ibrahim Halims, passed its second reading during Tuesday’s plenary through a voice vote and was referred to the Committee on Supply for further review.
The extension aims to ensure the completion of ongoing capital projects and address unfinished budget items. House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas emphasized the need for the extension due to delays in project execution. This move follows a similar extension granted for the 2023 budget to avoid leaving capital projects incomplete.
