Guwor Returns to Delsu, Donates Learning Materials
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, on Friday led members of the 2005 Religious Studies graduating class of Delta State University, Abraka, on a nostalgic return to their alma mater. The visit featured the donation of books, teaching aids, digital learning tools, and a public-address system to the Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy.
The delegation was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Asagba, and other senior university officials, who conducted them around the department’s aging lecture facilities. During the presentation, Guwor announced the group’s commitment to funding major renovations of the department’s dilapidated lecture building.
Guwor expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to give back after two decades, noting that DELSU played a key role in shaping their academic journey. He said the gesture represents appreciation for the foundation they received and aligns with Delta State’s broader vision of promoting quality education and community growth.
Vice-Chancellor Asagba commended the initiative and assured the alumni that the donated materials would be fully utilised. The visit ended with an emotional interaction between the alumni and their former lecturers, followed by group photographs.
