Gunmen Abduct Five in Delta State, Police Claim Otherwise

Five individuals in Delta State have been abducted following two separate kidnappings in Ebedei-Ukwuole community, of Ukwuani Local Government Area. The incidents occurred on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, 2025, along the Amuchi road, a route linking Ebedei Inland to Ebedei Water side.

Community resources disclosed the victims were seized by armed men and taken to unknown locations, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of N10 million for their release. This has sparked widespread fear across the community, as residents face growing concerns over the increasing insecurity in the region.

In response to the abductions, a local vigilante group reported the incidents to the Umutu Division Police Station, urging authorities to assist in rescuing the victims. However, their efforts have so far proven unfruitful.

Warri Sentinel learnt one of the victims, a tricycle operator, managed to escape while being transported along Amuchi road on the way to Ebedei Inland. According to a source, the escapee provided details of his ordeal while in captivity.

However, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, has stated that only three people were abducted, contradicting earlier reports that five individuals were taken.

Although there has been no official update on the victims’ current status, their families are said to be attempting to gather the ransom money, as delays in payment could lead to further complications.
