Group Calls for Pondi’s Kalm Marine to Manage Warri Refinery
The Niger Delta Grassroots Organisation (NDGO) has urged the Federal Government to concession the Warri Refinery to Kalm Marine & Petroleum Services Ltd, led by Engr. Kestin Pondi. The move is aimed at advancing oil sector deregulation and improving access to petroleum products for Niger Deltans.
In a statement released on Monday, NDGO’s National Coordinator, Comrade Weyinmi Olley, stressed the need to ensure consistent availability of affordable petroleum products, especially in the riverine oil-producing communities, where residents have long been burdened with exorbitant fuel prices. Olley emphasized that the Warri Refinery’s concession would address the “shamelessly higher costs” that locals face when purchasing oil products.
Olley also commended Engr. Kestin Pondi, who also serves as the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd, for his recent success in developing the first oil well in the Ogbanabou Oil Field. He noted that Pondi’s efforts in increasing national oil production to nearly 2 million barrels per day have been acknowledged for their positive impact on strengthening the national economy.
The group believes that Pondi’s proven commitment to Nigeria’s oil sector and economic development makes Kalm Marine & Petroleum Services Ltd a trustworthy candidate for overseeing the Warri Refinery. Olley expressed confidence that the company would ensure efficient operation of the refinery, addressing the long-standing issue of poor access to affordable petroleum products in oil-producing regions.
