Delta LGA Chairman Condemns Pipeline Vandalism, Offers N5M Reward

The Chairman of Warri North Local Government, Hon. Festus Ashima, has strongly condemned the recent pipeline vandalism in the area. Criminal elements reportedly blasted the Chevron oil pipeline at the Bibi Field in Eghoro Ward, Warri North. The act, allegedly carried out by individuals demanding employment, has sparked widespread outrage.

In a press statement, Ashima expressed his disapproval of the destruction of critical infrastructure, calling the act ‘dastardly’ and ‘unacceptable’. He stressed that such action poses serious threat to the environment and public safety while hindering the community’s economic progress.

“This destruction of vital infrastructure will not be tolerated,” Ashima said. “We are committed to ensuring that those responsible for this heinous act face justice.”

Ashima also urged the youths of Warri North to avoid falling into the trap of criminal activity, stressing that the local government remains focused on creating legitimate job opportunities and empowering the community. “We are working with reputable organizations to create employment, and we ask our youth to channel their energies into positive endeavors,” he added.

The Warri North Council boss also commended the swift response of security agencies to the incident and assured them of the local government’s full support in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

To encourage information leading to the arrest of the vandals, Hon. Ashima announced a cash reward of five million Naira (₦5,000,000) for anyone who provides valuable information that could help in arresting the crime.
He further called for unity in combating vandalism and other criminal activities, stressing that a collective effort is essential to building a safer and more prosperous future for the council area.
