Gov Oborevwori Directs Police to Arrest Culprits Behind Ozoro Festival Assault
The Delta State Government has directed the police to take urgent action following reports of women being assaulted during the recent Ozoro Festival. Governor emphasized that such criminal acts will not be tolerated under the guise of cultural celebration and ordered law enforcement to ensure the culprits are swiftly brought to justice.
Reacting to viral footage showing women being chased and attacked in public, the Delta State Police Command confirmed that Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola has launched a full-scale investigation. Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe assured the public that the attackers will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
The command stressed that no tradition or festival justifies violations of citizens’ rights, and warned that lawlessness will face firm consequences. Authorities are also calling on anyone with credible information to assist in the investigation to ensure justice is served.
Residents have been urged to remain calm while security agencies carry out their mandate, with the government reaffirming its commitment to protecting women and vulnerable groups across the state.
