Fuel Prices Drop as Dangote Bypasses Depots -IPMAN President

Fuel prices have begun to decline in parts of Nigeria following a new distribution strategy by Dangote Refinery, according to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).

The refinery has started supplying petrol directly to registered filling stations and large-scale consumers, bypassing traditional intermediaries such as fuel depots. IPMAN President Abubakar Maigandi said the policy has led to reduced prices in the twelve states currently receiving direct deliveries.

Despite concerns from some marketers, Mr Maigandi insisted that his members are not losing business. He stated that the refinery’s approach benefits consumers and urged the company to expand the initiative to more states nationwide.

The change in supply chain dynamics comes amid recent tensions between Dangote Refinery and oil sector unions. Weeks of strikes, court injunctions, and government interventions have highlighted ongoing disputes over labour and distribution practices in Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
