Former Delta Governor Uduaghan Returns to APC

Former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, has officially rejoined Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a return after his departure ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Dr Uduaghan, who previously served as the APC’s senatorial candidate for Delta South in 2019, was presented with a new membership card at his residence in the GRA area of Warri on Wednesday, May 7. The card, bearing the number Delta WRN//023/32001, was handed to him during a brief ceremony attended by party leaders.

Among those who welcomed him back into the fold were Comrade Alero Naomi Tenumah, former APC Delta South Women Leader, and George Ino, Chairman of APC’s Abigborodo Ward 6. Several other ward and local government officials were also present.

Speaking during the event, Uduaghan expressed appreciation for what he described as a warm reception and pledged to work closely with party stakeholders to advance development in Delta State.

Prominent figures at the gathering included APC ward secretary Omamuli Folorunsho, LGA financial official Moses Atsemudeomeyin, and welfare aide Isaac Ogbemi. Others included ward organising secretary Favour Adibor, ward woman leader Stella Umeh, and community elder Sunny Kpenosen.

Dr Uduaghan’s daughter, Orode Uduaghan who currently serves as the state’s Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services, and Child Development also received her APC membership card from local party officials, sources confirmed.

Former Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture Hon Misan Ukubeyinje, youth leader Great Kpenosen, and former PDP ward chairman Ephraim Edun were among other attendees.

In her remarks, Comrade Tenumah praised Dr Uduaghan for returning with what she described as a significant number of supporters. She said the move would bolster the APC’s strength in Warri North and across Delta State.

She also urged new party members to register formally, adding that active participation would support both President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s “M.O.R.E” development initiative.
