FG Declares Christmas, New Year Holidays
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as official public holidays to mark the Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.
The announcement was made by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, in a statement issued on Monday. The statement, which was signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, encouraged Nigerians to celebrate the season in the spirit of peace, love, and unity.
Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt wishes to Nigerians, emphasizing that the Christmas season provides an opportunity for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. “As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he said in his message.
The Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening family bonds and fostering community spirit as a way to contribute to national development and promote unity across the country.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal, let us use this time to build bridges of understanding and love, as we work towards a peaceful and prosperous future.” Tunji-Ojo added.
Tunji-Ojo reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity throughout the nation. He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would create a foundation for a brighter and more prosperous 2025.
