Emami Urges Tinubu to Include Delta in Government

Ayiri Emami, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Warri-born businessman, has called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure the Itsekiri people of Delta State are adequately represented in his government, following their support during the 2023 elections.

Emami, who spoke to newsmen shortly after a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, said the Itsekiris played a key role in securing the President’s electoral victory and should now be reflected in his administration.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. We worked, we contributed, so, we too believe that we should be part of the government.” Emami said, adding that political appointments for the Itsekiri people were among the key issues raised in the meeting.

The APC chieftain also took the opportunity to highlight several regional concerns, including the state of the Warri Port, which he described as an ongoing issue requiring urgent attention.

According to Emami, the dredging of the Warri Port’s bar mouth is a critical matter, with the President assuring him that the relevant agencies, including Chevron and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) are working towards a resolution.

On the issue of infrastructure, specifically the road linking Omadino, Gbaramatu, and Ugborodo, Emami noted that although work on the road is already underway, the President had indicated that Chevron and NDDC were collaborating to find a way forward on the project.

He also revealed the Ogidigben Gas project was also discussed during the meeting, with President Tinubu promising immediate follow-up on the matter.

Addressing security concerns, Emami reassured the public that the situation in his region, particularly the Warri-Escravos waterway, is stable, describing it as one of the safest in the world.
