Ekweremadu’s Wife Returns Home After Release From UK Prison

Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of former Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has returned to Nigeria after being released from prison in the United Kingdom. News sources confirmed her return on Wednesday, with reports indicating that she arrived on Tuesday amidst celebrations and prayers for her husband’s safe return.

In May 2023, Beatrice and her husband, alongside Dr. Obinna Obeta, were convicted by a UK court on charges related to organ harvesting and trafficking. Senator Ike Ekweremadu received a 10-year prison sentence, while Beatrice was sentenced to six years for their involvement in attempting to traffick a young Nigerian boy to harvest his kidney for their daughter, Sophia.

Following her release, Beatrice’s return has been met with support from family and friends, as the Ekweremadu family continues to face the legal ramifications of the case.
