Edo Police Confirm Arrest of All Suspect in Igbinedion School Bullying Incident

The Edo State Police Command announced on Saturday that all suspects linked to the bullying incident at Igbinedion Education Centre have been apprehended.

The controversy erupted after videos circulated online showing senior students beating, flogging, and kicking their juniors within the school premises.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, authorities confirmed that the arrests followed a thorough investigation. The suspects are set to be arraigned before a family court, in line with the state’s juvenile justice and child protection laws.

The statement further noted that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate reinforcement of the Operation Safe Schools Initiative across secondary schools in Edo State. The initiative aims to address supervisory lapses and prevent future occurrences. Meanwhile, the school has expelled the involved students and pledged that such misconduct will not be repeated.
