DSS Chief Meets Tinubu on Northern Security Situation

The Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, met with President Bola Tinubu on Friday night to provide an update on the country’s security, particularly in the northern region affected by recent attacks and abductions.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the meeting in a post on Saturday, noting that Ajayi held discussions with the President at the Presidential Villa. Official photographs showed the DSS chief in the President’s office, though details of the briefing were not disclosed.

The Federal Government has set up a joint task force comprising all security agencies to search northern areas for abducted schoolchildren. The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination among security agencies and accelerate rescue operations.

Earlier, President Tinubu directed the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, to relocate to Kebbi State to lead and coordinate on-the-ground rescue and security efforts, signaling a more proactive approach to the escalating security challenges.
