DSCTDA Mobile Court Convicts 16 Offenders for Environmental Violations in Asaba
The Mobile Court of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has convicted 16 individuals and businesses for breaching environmental sanitation laws within the Delta State Capital, Asaba. The offenders were prosecuted by the agency’s Head of Environment, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, who spearheaded the enforcement exercise targeting persons and establishments found flouting the state’s environmental regulations.
In the same sitting, four defendants had their cases discharged and were subsequently released by the court. However, bench warrants were issued for 12 other offenders who were absent from court despite having charges filed against them. Among those prosecuted was Chuzz4 Apartment and Suites, which was accused of discharging wastewater into a public drainage system—an offense considered a breach of environmental rules and a danger to public health.
The Director-General of DSCTDA, Mr. Patrick Ukah, commented on the development, reaffirming the agency’s dedication to upholding environmental standards and preserving the cleanliness and hygiene in Asaba. He stressed that such legal actions are necessary to deter further violations and promote responsible waste management among residents and business owners.
Ukah issued a stern warning that individuals and organizations who continue to disregard environmental regulations, particularly through the improper disposal of wastewater and other waste materials, will face relentless prosecution. He urged the public to comply with sanitation laws to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
