Dom Domingos College Shines at Delta Inter-School Speaking Competition

In a thrilling showcase of young talent and passion, Dom Domingos College has emerged victorious at the Delta State Inter-School Public Speaking Competition, an event organized by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited in partnership with the Godfrey Pondi Book Club.

The competition which was held on Saturday, was themed “The Impact of Technology in Combatting Crude Oil Theft and Pipeline Vandalism,” a crucial issue for the region.

Students from ten government-owned secondary schools, participated in the competition, including Dom Domingos College, Edjeba Secondary School, Ighogbadu Secondary School, and others.

The young participants from each school impressed the audience with their eloquence, and Dom Domingos College took home the top prize, initially set at N500,000 but later increased to N1,000,000 by Captain Warredi Enisuoh, Executive Director of Tantita Security Services. In a gesture of encouragement, Enisuoh announced the increase on stage, stating that the students’ impressive insights warranted more substantial rewards.

Similarly, Edjeba Secondary School initially promised N300,000 as the First Runner-Up, received N800,000, while Ighogbadu Secondary School took home N700,000, up from the initially stated N200,000.

Speaking after the event, Captain Enisuoh stressed the significance of the competition’s theme, praising the students’ deep understanding of the challenges facing their region. “It was not an easy topic, and I think only those from this area would have won if it was a national event. We sleep and wake up with this pollution from crude oil; we know it is not easy to survive in this region. Most of our land has been affected by the illegality of this problem. We are very happy to see these effects at a young age, as it shows there is hope for solutions.”

Captain Enisuoh also admitted that Tantita Security Services, which is actively involved in protecting oil installations and curbing pipeline vandalism, found the students’ presentations eye-opening. “You mentioned so many things, and though we are the ones at the forefront of fighting this scourge, we learned a lot from you today. We wish you had briefed us before we started the contract, but we are taking everything on board. You have given us reasons to improve, and we appreciate your participation. One day, one of you will be a governor, another a deputy governor, and possibly even a president. It’s crucial to understand the problems of your country before becoming a leader.” Enisuoh added.

Teachers from participating schools expressed their gratitude to Tantita Security and the Godfrey Pondi Book Club for organizing the competition, noting that such initiatives not only showcase the students’ potential but also motivate educators to continue their hard work.
