Delta Youth Injured by Tear Gas, Not Gunshot -Police
The Delta State Police Command has provided clarification on the incident in Okuidjere-Oviore-Ovu community, stating that the injured youth was not shot with live ammunition.
Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, explained that the injury resulted from a tear gas canister discharged by officers, which struck the victim’s leg during the encounter.
He added that the Divisional Police Officer has accepted responsibility for the victim’s medical care, while officers involved in the incident have been taken into custody.
The clarification comes amid earlier reports of a confrontation between youths and police operatives in the community.
