Delta State to Restrict Movement for January Sanitation Exercise

Movement will be restricted across Delta State on Saturday morning as the state government carries out the January 2026 Monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise. The restriction is scheduled to last from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

The exercise is part of the government’s effort to promote public health and reduce sanitation-related diseases. Residents are expected to remain within their neighborhoods during the period while carrying out cleanup activities.

Tasks expected to be carried out include clearing refuse, cutting grasses, and opening blocked drainage systems. Households and businesses are reminded that sanitation responsibility extends up to 20 metres around their premises.

Officials from the Ministry of Environment, led by Commissioner Ejiro Jamani, will oversee compliance. Authorities warned that violators face arrest, prosecution at Mobile Magistrate Courts, and financial penalties.
