Delta Retains Top Spot in Nigeria’s Oil Production Rankings

Delta State has solidified its status as Nigeria’s leading crude oil and condensate producer, contributing 99.9 million barrels between November 2023 and September 2024. This accounted for more than one-third of the national production of 295.34 million barrels, according to the latest data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Following Delta were Akwa Ibom with 60.32 million barrels, Bayelsa with 53.2 million barrels, and Rivers with 50.83 million barrels. Together, these four states produced nearly 90% of the country’s oil output, underscoring the dominance of the Niger Delta in Nigeria’s energy sector.

In terms of gas production, Rivers State led with over 391 billion standard cubic feet, followed by Bayelsa and Delta. Delta alone accounted for 318.2 billion scf, further confirming its key role in both oil and gas sectors.
