Delta Police Kill Five Suspects in Gun Battle

Police officers of the Delta State Command have killed five suspected kidnappers in a gun battle near Iyamuge, Otu-Jeremi, Warri, and Ughelli.

Police spokesperson, Bright Edafe confirmed that the suspects, believed to be gang members, exchanged fire with officers in a forest. Five suspects were injured and later died in hospital.

Edafe also announced the arrest of Adamu Abubakar, leader of a kidnapping syndicate in Warri. The arrest followed intelligence on kidnapping and related crimes in Ughelli North. Two other suspects, Abubakar Mohammed and Mohammed Bellow, were apprehended in Ughelli on March 21.

The suspects reportedly confessed to multiple kidnappings and robberies in the region. Following their confessions, police recovered weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, pump-action gun, and over 60 rounds of ammunition.
