Delta Police Arrest Four in Ometan, Ogwashi-Uku, Recover Weapons and Vehicles
Police in Delta State say they have arrested four men suspected of involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery, in a series of operations that led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, two vehicles, and a network jammer used to block communication during criminal activities.
The first arrests took place on 12 September in Ometan, near Warri, where police detained Elvis Ebroghro and Abiola Adegore following an earlier confrontation with a local security guard. Further investigation led to the arrest of a third suspect, Lucky Ebroghro, and the recovery of a hidden AK-47 rifle.
In a separate operation, police rescued a young man abducted from his home in Ogwashi-Uku despite the payment of a ₦2 million ransom. Though injured during the ordeal, the victim was freed during a bush raid. Follow-up investigations led to the arrests of suspects in Anambra and Ogwashi-Uku, and the recovery of the victim’s vehicle and the gang’s operational car, along with a signal jammer.
Delta State Police Commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the officers involved and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling violent crime.
